Hi, I’m Dana!

I have been a Full-Time professional photographer for 4+ years. I was born and raised right here in Wake County and have lived in Johnston County for almost 20 years.

Here are five things you should know about me that have nothing and everything to do with Photography:

  • After many years of vacillating between atheism and agnosticism, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I have spent everyday since falling more in love with my Redeemer.

  • Family is everything to me; especially my husband Andrew, best boy Judah and sweet girl Selah.

  • We have what feels like a small zoo at home with our geriatric dog Tank, puppy Chewbacca (Chewy), and twin kitties Madmartigan and Sorsha.

  • If you can’t tell by our pets names, I love vintage Sci-Fi as well as Marvel & Harry Potter.

  • Recovery is a huge part of my life! I work part-time as the Communications Director for Recovery Alive Inc. Additionally, my husband and I are the Ministry Directors for Crossings Recovery at The Church at Clayton Crossings. Crossings Recovery meets every Tuesday night and is a safe place for anyone to come who is looking for hope, healing, peace, restoration. Recovery isn’t just for people who struggle with addiction - it’s for anyone with any struggle including grief, anxiety, people-pleasing, control, codependency, stress, family dysfunction, anger and so much more. I would love to chat with you if you are interested in joining us!

What’s In a Name?

When it comes to “Delta Juliet Photography” - A LOT! As I mentioned above, I love sci-fi movie franchises which are known for their “easter eggs” - messages hidden in plain sight. The name Delta Juliet Photography and the signature logo are full of easter eggs. For fun, see if you can guess what they might be and then check out the answers below to see if you are right:

  • ‘Delta’ and ‘Juliet’ are from the aviation alphabet for my initials DJ

  • A definition of the word ‘delta’ is: a variation of a variable or function. That is exactly what I do as a Photographer - I take a variable (my client) and add my artistic variation through creative shooting and editing.

  • The symbol for delta is a triangle

  • I have a degree in Theatre so ‘Juliet’ is a tribute to my love of the Fine Arts

  • The triangle on the outside of the name is a reminder to always keep my business rooted in the Holy Trinity

Bonus inside info: My wedding song with my husband was “Magnolia Wind” by Guy Clark so the magnolia flowers in the DJP logo remind me of why I do what I do - my sweet family.
